The Soundblaster Live cards are awesome.
You can add the livedrive panel that gives you access to plugs and
jacks from the front of the computer:

You can get the soundcard and live drive in a package deal, the
Soundblaster live platinum.
This convenience doesn't come cheap though, I think you can pick up a
white box version for around $140
