Subject: sound using flash
Can anyone explain in as few steps as posible about how to make a swf
file with sound only (no images) from a .ra or wave file?
I got flash 4 and dreamweaver 3. The html help file doesn't help too
much. The fact is I just want a swf with sound cause it's a large
sound file and I want to make it small as possible; I don't know much
about flash yet.
thanks,
Jay Daniels

Can anyone tell me what to look for in a digital camera. I am so
confused. What is a good pixel rate. How little can I spend and
still get a good camera that I won't want to replace in a year or
less. What other features should I look for in a camera?
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Rita

What is yoiur current photographic background? That might help advise you
about camera features.
You might also look in rec.photo.digital to see whatseems to be important.
It can be a bit daunting at first.
Regarding camera reviews, the computer magazines are not exactly worthless,
but Shutterbug has a lot of digital stuff, as do the others.
Since all I have now is a Kodak DC290, I am about 2 generations behind. I
will give an opinion.
Important
at least 2Mpixels, 3 is better. With todays prices, 5 is overkill
Optical zoom, at least 3x
Adjustable ISO rating
good viewfinder (the LCD screen on the back is useful
for review or close-ups on a tripod, but not for casual shooting
selectable quality levels, to allow a lot of small pics if you don't
need quality
rechargeable batteries that don't use the camera as a battery holder
during charging
use CompactFlash media; Use type 2 if you want to put a mini-disk in the
camera,
I have a 64MB card that lets me take about 60 pictures yielding
500-600KB jpg's
If the camera comes only with 8MB or 16Mb, you may not like that.
Prices are down.
prompt photo exposure after shutter release is pressed
USB connection; forget about having to have a separate card reader.
Comfortable feeling in your hand
less important
manual exposure control
off-camera flash (requires a connector like those on film cameras)
fast processing hardware, although it can be annoying to wait
unimportant
digital zoom - quality just evaporates
FYI, I got mine on e-bay, and I got the 64MB card there also, but buyer
beware,
watch out for no-name cards.

Pixel Rate - Obviously, higher makes for much more detail in a same size pic.
I've seen up to 4.1 megapixels.
Zoom Ratio - Optical zoom uses lenses to zoom. Digital zoom takes the smaller
image and expands the pixels to create the "zoom". Optical zoom makes for a
clearer pic.
Personally, I wouldn't buy anything less that 1.3 megapixel right now. Under
$200 will get you an acceptable point-and-click type camera with 1.3
megapixel resolution and 2x digital zoom.
I know the trend in the digital community it to buy the biggest and baddest
but the under $200 camera is highly agreeable to most users.
