...this is an interesting experiment by Eric Paulos and the Experimental Interaction Unit. Very new-age and ethereal, if not also a tad bit useful for news junkies and those awaiting Armageddon. :) I'm not thrilled about the biometrics factor, but it's a nifty concept, regardless. Not to mention it'd look great on the coffee table!
-rick Infowarrior.org The anxiety of our new world demands our vigilant attention. We are drawn into the spiral of constantly filtering and interpreting the breaking news from across the globe, monitoring the state and activities in our local habitats, and drawing pragmatic conclusions of the current threat based on our findings. The solution is a personal tactical system capable of diligently and automatically monitoring complex local and global threat conditions, constantly updating its awareness of these hostilities, and presenting an ambient display to the local user of the current threat level: Limelight. The goal of the Limelight is to provide the user with an awareness of the current condition of actual threats that should be of concern. This is not simply the threat as indicated through a press release by a government organization or a report by a news agency. Nor, is it entirely a function of local information such as nearby loud noises, heat, or radioactivity. The current threat is an elaborate and complicated function of numerous local and global indicators, including but not limited to the above. The ability to correctly identify, monitor, and interpret this plethora of information is beyond the scope of a single individual. The demand for an automated electronic personal tactical threat detection and indication system is obvious. < snip > http://eiu.org/experiments/limelight/ -- You are a subscribed member of the infowarrior list.
