All an email alias does is the following:

You email [email protected]
That email goes to the fedora servers
Those servers translate [email protected] to [email protected]
Those servers send that email to [email protected]
I get the email in my gmail.com address.

It doesn't allow me to login to gmail with [email protected]
nor does it allow me to use [email protected] to get email from
google. I still have to pull my email as [email protected]. This is
because Google does not 'own' or 'control' a fedoraproject.org domain
to do so.

If there are instructions which say that you can do more than that
with a fedoraproject.org address, please point them out so I can
figure out why they said that.
