I am recovered from a dose of the flu' and catching up with things (Sydney
almost stopped after the Olympics did, all the bad weather that we didn't
get during the "distraction" was saved up somewhere and then we got the
lot, back to winter and almost everyone caught the Sydney B 'flu that we
gave to the rest of the world! Not fair <g>).
One of our outstanding matters was the trouble we had with the bulk mail
experiment. We have now analyzed the results and decided that a major
factor was the ability of the POST server to handle a mail queue that had a
lot of mail in it. 5,000 mails slowed it down, 10,000 made it bog and
20,000 almost stopped it.
You are obviously a mind-reader as we were going to suggest possible
changes to the POST server to overcome the problem, it seems you have done
it already! :-) We will be doing another experiment at the end of this
week and will keep a careful eye on things.
