Ok, good to know.. Thanx...

I would really love to see that enhancement!  :-)

We have this feature slated for version 2.  In the next week or so we should be releasing the final 1.x product (1.6) and after that version 2.0 development will begin.

Also, I am just now beginning to utilize the iMS products, so excuse the naivety....

No problem...

Is there one of the components that will assist me in retrieving email from pop servers to use in creating a CF based web mail application?
I have found some Java based ones, but they were a pain in the rump to configure....

There are no iMS facilities for retrieving mail from a POP Server.  The reason is because of the iMS archetecture.  What I mean can be shown by illustrating one of the differences between CFPOP/CFMAIL and iMS.

CFPOP/CFMAIL

Thsi combination requires an external mail server.  To retrieve mail from the mail server you periodically poll it with CFPOP.  You, of course, use CFMAIL to send mail to the mail server.

iMS

iMS requires no external mail server.  When the SMTP Server receives mail it is immediately processed by ColdFusion templates.  So, you can process the mail in real-time as either standard mail or do some dynamic processing behind the scenes.

Howie

Thanx again for the very quick response.. ;-)

Currently you have to loop over the CFX.  The ability to personalize mail using a query and calling the tag once is a future enhancement.

Howie,

Thanx A TON!!!!!!

Now, I have another (maybe stupid) question for you.. :-)

<cfquery name="qry_GetEmails" datasource="#dsn#" dbtype="ODBC" blockfactor="100" username="user" password="pw">
  SELECT      a.idno, a.companynm, a.lastname as lname, a.firstname as fname,
     a.midinit, a.domainname, a.webpasswrd,
     a.sponsor, a.enroller, a.rank, a.spnside,
     a.email
  FROM        dbo.tbl_asscinfo a
  WHERE a.IDNO='1015'>

<cfx_imsmail
    QUERY="qry_GetEmails"
    QUERYFIELD="email"
    header_To="recipient1"
    header_Cc="recipient2"
    header_subject="#idno# - #form.subject#"
    body="#form.message#">

Ok, this is a simplified example, but it shows the point (I HOPE).

I want to send personalized emails to my user base.  substituting %name% for the name..  etc...  you can catch my meaning... different name in each version of the email message....

The question is...

Can I do this with the control?  or do I have to load the object in a loop (<cfoutput query="qry_GetEmails"> or <cfloop>)

Thanx,

Mark Theis
