The reason we made the decision we did was beacause there would be additional server
overhead. So, it was a matter of
1 - what percentage of our clients would want that functionality?
2 - what is the overhead hit?
3 - are there alternatives?
The answers that we came up with were:
1 - low
2 - relatively low
3 - yes (CFX_ODSMIME)
So, the initial decision was to leave out the functionality but there is always the
possibility of adding the functionality later
on. Unfortunately, the feature set for iMS 2.1 is closed and we would need to look
forward to a subsequent release. I'm kicking
around the idea here of having a subset of our clients set up in a closed group to
assist in developing the next new set of features
(this would be a small, devoted group). For the most part we currently add features
the we need or that clients as for in email
here or directly to me. I want to get into a more structured evolvement for the
product and, I think, this means having a smaller
dedicated group for the next release (this doesn't mean that we would ignore other
requests for features, just that we would have
better interaction and feedback during the development process).
