I did as you suggested, and it logged successful delivery twice for each
mail address (two external, one "internal"). Although iMS does not know that
the Exchange server is internal, so it should not handle "internal"
addresses any differently, correct?

We get approximately 2000-3000 messages per day on the Exchange server, so
what do you see as the issue here?

Someone else mentioned something like this with Exchange.  Try your test
with protocol logging on the Post server and see if you can
see the Exchange server accepting the mail for both addresses.
