There are some errors in your log file that make me suspect a network issue - particularly the one that says "[10051] Network is unreachable."
Also, how many DNS servers are configured? Do you have MX caching enabled? What about upgrading to 2.1.8? The 1.5x version is over a year old. You can always make a backup of what you have so that you can go back to it if need be.
