Well I did a test this morning, sending mailing list commands in the body
of a message to my FusionMail 1/2 Mailing List Application. I sent the
mail from my mail server on a DOS box to the Mailing List App on my iMS box.
11 leaves & 11 joins (in succession) worked flawlessly.
Trying a LEAVE command from my Hotmail account, and my Mailing List App on
the iMS box replied as if I had sent a JOIN command (twice in a row). This
is not new, and it confirms my belief that any command in the body of a
message that is more than one line long can (and often will) be screwed up
by Hotmail mail (and possibly Yahoo! mail, as well). Whether a one line
long command will be screwed up has yet to be tested thoroughly (joins &
leaves are a two line command). So this pretty much says my mailing list
app owner cannot have a Hotmail (and probably Yahoo!) account. To overcome
this I need to change the command syntax in my Mailing List App on my iMS
boxen....
But there is another problem. Sometimes, but not always, some with a
Hotmail account cannot POST a message to my FusionMail 1/2 mailing list
app. Instead they get a message from iMS to the effect that "relaying is
not allowed" Has anyone run into this with Hotmail? Or Yahoo!?
Any suggestions?
best, paul
