I have verified what I believe to be serious issues in POST servers
(2.4.5.0) & (2.4.6.0), and which may all be related to one another (IMHO). I
have only verified these issues with these two versions, but it may
important to note we had similar issues in previous versions. It took me
until now to track these issues down, because they seemed very sporadic in
previous versions. However, in both of the versions mentioned all of these
issues are completely reproducible, at least on our system (YMMV).
Anyhow, the issues seem to be related to the shutdown of the service (via
configuration, control panel, or command-line). I shall outline the issues
below, and forward more detailed log information off-list.
1. Shutdown Issue:
"System error 1064 has occurred. An exception occurred in the service when
handling the control request."
2. I/O Issue:
Possibly due to issue (1), POST server does not commit all cached write
operations to disk when shutting down. [see below]
3. Duplicate Delivery:
Any recently delivered addresses remain marked as Pending, and are therefore
delivered again upon restart of the service. [see issue 2]
4. I/O Errors:
POST server (2.4.6.0) generates output (write) and memory (access
violations) errors after running for long periods. These errors cause system
lockups and sometimes corrupt a large section of the log file that POST
server has open.
