I am using iMS SE,  The $250 version.  In the real world I am sending about 20,000 per hour.  This was a large eMail newsletter.  I am on a 1.2 gHz processor with 512Meg memory.  This is on my dedicated server at www.crystaltech.com  so it has solid back bone internet connections.

I installed it,  I use it.  I have not done custom work.

I HAVE gotten excellent support via this forum.

The 700k number was from an internal test between servers.  The emails were  not customized but they were sent to one email address only (which means that the server connected, sent one mail and then disconnected).  When you send email in the real world, there is additional overhead and lag in sending the mail.  However, the server will keep the connection when there is more than one recipient in a single domain for the email so there will be an overall increase in sending from this and an overall decrease due to bandwidth and other overhead.  So, you may still see a number like 700k in a day but it could be less (there are many factors).

You can always start off with iMS-SE and then increase your thread count later on if you need more.

Subject: [iMS] iMS-SE capabilities

Howie,

I am working on the email marketing application and thinking about getting an iMS-SE version as I only need to send the emails out. I will probably use the Microsoft SMTP for incoming mail since I will have it on the server already. What I need to know is if the max numbers of sent emails (700k) in a day on SE version is possible if the database, coldfusion and iMS will be sitting on the same server.
Most of the emails will be generated using tokens for personalization.
Down the road I would probably switch to Professionl version of POST but for now I would like to start on a smaller scale. Would I be able to send the above number of email in a day using the specified configuration? Thanks.

Dmitry.
