So I ran an installer yesterday to update our servers CFX_ImsMail tag (3.3.1). And the installer wrecked the neo-runtime.xml file, so that when the server cycled this morning at 2AM, it was unable to start with the following error message in the exception log and CF returning a blank page with no errors. It did this on 3 different servers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Error","main","08/08/03","02:23:02",,"The Runtime service is not available. This exception is usually caused by service startup failure. Please check your server configuration."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I did finally track it down to the neo-runtime.xml files in the cfroot\lib directory, and when I tried to view the XML in explorer I got this error:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
End tag 'array' does not match the start tag 'struct'. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/CFusionMX/lib/neo-runtime.xml'. Line 1, Position 1079
<string>2,0,0,0</string></var><var name='enable'><boolean value='true'/></var></struct></var></struct><struct type='coldfusion.server.ConfigMap'><var name='site_wide'><string></string></var><var name='missing_template'><string></string></var><var name='EnableHTTPStatus'><string>1</string></var></struct><struct type='coldfusion.server.ConfigMap'><var name='/webroot'><string>\\Lfmail\lfV2WebFiles\</string></var><var name='/EmailSysComponents'><string>f:\lfDistributedEmailSys2\lfecomponents\</string></var><var name='/lfDistributedEmailController'><string>f:\lfDistributedEmailController</string></var></struct><struct type='coldfusion.server.ConfigMap'><var name='timeoutRequestTimeLimit'><number>60.0</number></var><var name='logSlowRequests'><boolean value='true'/></var><var name='timeoutRequests'><boolean value='false'/></var><var name='slowRequestTimeLimit'><number>30.0</number></var></struct><struct type='coldfusion.server.ConfigMap'><var name='trustedCacheEnabled'><boolean value='false'/></var><var name='templateCacheSize'><number>1024.0</number></var></struct></array></data></wddxPacket>
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I restored the backup new-runtime.xml file that was availble within the same directory. This enabled our server to start up. I also found what appeared to be a missing bracket in the XML file that was causing all of the confusion. However, now that the server is running again, CFX tags are not being processed correctly and when I try to add a CFX tag manually via the cfadministrator I get this error:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There has been an error updating/creating your cfx
String index out of range: -1
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How in gods name to I fix this quickly so that I can still go camping tomorrow?? Is there somewhere else that CFX entries are stored?
