A port being blocked would not prevent you from logging in to the webmail interface (unless it was port 80).

That is what I'm doing, but I have a suspicion that the port is not open on the server firewall (it was a webserver), so I'm having my ISP make sure the 25 & 110 ports are open.  I'll let you know if that was it.
