very few I think, but there may be many that are not completely
harddisk-I/O-bound, such as Xorg (initialising your video card), ntp
(retrieving network time), postfix (doing a DNS lookup) etc.

just look at your harddisk activity light, on my desktop box (not
booting in parallel) it stops flashing once in a while during boot. On
my laptop (parallel booting) it flashes continuously (well, it simply
burns). Not a very good measurement, but it does give an indication
there is some time to win.
