Karen's suggestion to an alternate didn't seem unreasonable to me.
Doing something along the lines of a donation the way we do with
OSUOSL occasionally doesn't feel nearly the same as us doing something
retroactive. One feels like a choice, the other feels like a family
member guilting me into something.
