Thanks for your contributions. the GNU tools will modify the .po files as the number of translatable strings will grow. So it keeps the old translations if they do not change. So in theory you only have to touch those strings that have been added or changed. To edit po files I use a software that can group strings (translated, not translated, dodgy).
