"bug" in check_installed (was .inl file missing)

The diff I appended in the last mail doesn't work as expected. It breaks
"make test". I think there should be a distinction wether the module is run
under "make test" or as an installed module in case one has a architecture
subdir in site/<ver>/lib.
I don't think I have yet grasped the mechanisms to provide a working patch
that takes all the side effects in account.
