Well, that certainly looks good to me.

And that is very strange. Are you sure that your make is getting used
here? What does this output:
perl -MConfig -e 'print "$Config{make}\n";'
Also, can you build normal XS modules on this system? Try installing
Storable or Time::HiRes and see if that works.
I guess you can tell by now that I'm grasping at straws here...
