Turns out that somewhere along the way, my module's 'makefile.pl' was amended to 'use ExtUtils::MakeMaker'. Once I changed it back to 'use Inline::MakeMaker' the problem thankfully disappeared. (Probably happened when messing around with CPAN::MakeMaker.) As regards my particular (narrow) interests, there's no problem with RC2. Cheers, Rob
