I just subscribed to the [EMAIL PROTECTED] list, but
the faq (mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) indicates that
there is no FAQ available yet. (I was looking for the
inline mailing list archives)

Anyway, it's been a while since I last did a make test
with Inline and Inline::C. Since then I've upgraded
to the latest bleading-edge perl v5.9.0 DEVEL18374.
I went to the same directory I had tested it in before (Inline-0.44),
and attempted to go through the normal
  perl Makefile.PL
  make
  make test
   etc
processes, but when I got to make test,
    t/01syntax.....
in Inline-0.44/C seemed to consume many minutes of cpu time.

I aborted the test and tried again with similar results.
Then I did
 strace -f make test
which slows things down a bit, and it went busy also
after opening/reading/closing the file C/t/typemap

I tried a regular make test again, but this time I
got a littler further, down to
t/02config.....
before going busy. (Each time I waited several minutes
before aborting with control-c)

What is strange is that the next time I tried to
run the make test command, it ran successfully.

I can reproduce this sequence after another make clean.

I think that the problem may be with the bleading-edge
perl, but I'm looking for ideas or simpler test cases
that might demonstrate the problem.
