Sorry, I was confused when i wrote that.  I was thinking of innxmit.

For the records, the issue is solved.

/etc/news/newsfeeds:97: undefined multiplex `innfeed!'
/etc/news/newsfeeds:101: undefined multiplex `innfeed!'

The innfeed funnel master was missing in /etc/news/newsfeeds:

innfeed!\
         :!*\
         :Tc,Wnm*:/usr/libexec/news/innfeed -y
