while I'm in favour of increasing buffers etc. and thus make use of the
vastly expanded storage and RAM commonly available today, I think this
one has a privacy impact and should not be increased by default - three
days should be enough to diagnose the most common cases of malfunction
and abuse, and where more is indeed needed the correct knob is easily
found.

(This is just my personal opinion, but since you asked for comments I
wanted to share my first thought when looking over the list.)

As always, thank you for the tremendous work you do for INN!
Florian

OK, I understand. I will then just leave it unchanged (3 days of logs).
For the same reason, I will not enable by default the new parameter for
posting-account; it may have undesirable privacy impact. It for instance
gives for my posts:

Injection-Info: news.trigofacile.com; posting-account="julien";
posting-host="aaubervilliers-651-1-344-162.w83-114.abo.wanadoo.fr:83.114.231.162";
        logging-data="14202"; mail-complaints-to="xxx"

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. They are of course pretty much
appreciated.

Thanks!

At the same time, I also suggest changing the default of use-mmap in
innfeed.conf. It is currently set to false; it specifies whether
mmaping should be used. The caveat in the doc is that "if article data
on disk is not in NNTP-ready format (CR/LF at the end of each line),
then after mmaping, the article is read into memory and fixed up, so
mmaping has no positive effect (and possibly some negative effect
depending on your system), and so in such a case this value should be
false".

In current modern systems, I suppose it no longer has negative effects.

max-queue-size could also be increased in innfeed.conf. Its default
value is 5. It defines the maximum number of articles to process at one
time when using streaming to transmit to a peer.
With current amount of available RAM, we could perhaps increase it to 20
by default.
