I have gateway some mail newsletters to inn.
But I got a lot of:

inews failed: inews: header too long (maximum length is 998):
X-Microsoft-Exchange-Diagnostics: =?us-a... inews: article not posted

messages.
I checked out lines with these suspected headers and most of them are
in form:
Header-name: aaaaaaa
bbbbbbbb
....
No single line is 998 bytes long, but concatenated are.
I am not sure if 998 limit concerns single line or whole header. I
thought that only single line should be checked, not whole header?

Indeed, that's an inews bug. The length check should be for a single
line, not for the whole header field.
Jeffery reported that issue last month, and I opened a ticket to
remember to fix that:
