It is a pleasure to share the new STLMeshIO module. This module provides the functionalities to read and write ITK Meshes in STL files, both in ASCII or BINARY formats.
This functionality is particular important to support 3D printing, and facilitates the full process of going from segmenting anatomical structures up to 3D printing them. See for example: http://www.kitware.com/blog/home/post/591 Following the instructions in: http://www.itk.org/Wiki/ITK/Policy_and_Procedures_for_Adding_Remote_Modules The STLMeshIO module is described in this Insight Journal article http://hdl.handle.net/10380/3452 http://www.insight-journal.org/browse/publication/913 The corresponding Gerrit patch can be found here http://review.source.kitware.com/#/c/14036/ The source code is hosted in this repository https://github.com/luisibanez/ITKSTLMeshIO A Nightly build to the ITK Dashboard is submitted from "eldorado" at: http://open.cdash.org/index.php?project=Insight&filtercount=1&showfilters=1&field1=buildname/string&compare1=63&value1=STLMeshIO All comments and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks Luis
