Norman
Young responds to Gordon Moyes
I doubt any reader of the Basis of Union, with its insistence
on the Triune God; on the Lordship of Jesus Christ, incarnate,
crucified, risen and ascended; the ongoing power and presence
of the Holy Spirit; the indispensability of the sacraments
in feeding God's pilgrim people; and the unique authority
of the Old and New Testaments by which the faith of the church
is "nourished and regulated" would come to the conclusion
that the founding ethos of the church was to "rid itself of
traditional theology and authority and remove all sense of
mystery" (Moyes).
