Yep. I think it was to acknowledge that both Ministers and 'people' have felt anguish. It came from table group discussions (mind you our tables suggestion of specific pastoral care and support for Assembly officers and members of ASC was ignored).
The bit that gets to me and tells me that we are in a hopeless situation is part iv of 1 - talking about "what seems to some" to be a denial by the Assembly of pain and anguish. This makes it sound like the Assembly has either made a statement denying it or it has done nothing to address it, neither of which are true. The ASC statement of apology and regret was read out (the one distributed to all ministers and presbytaries and available on multiple web sites), and despite this people refused to remove the clause. This leads me to a conclusion that regardless of what the ASC or Assembly does, it will not be enough. People will still refuse to listen. I would go as far as saying if the ASC rescinded 84 people would still strug their shoulders and say 'too little too late'. It is sad, because I am sure that if the November ASC does not consentrate on sexuality it would be damned for not taking the issue seriously, when it does devote the meeting to sexuality, no-one will listen...
