_____________________________________________________________________ A. Introduction
OBJECTIVE
While incarnation is central to Christian belief, Christianity hasn't always had a positive theology of the body. Some streams of Christian thought have even seen the body as something to be denigrated and denied. Body theology seeks to explore this paradox and to reclaim the bodiliness of human beings as creatures of God. Such a reclamation asks us to take seriously that, in Jesus, God was one of us! And then to see how honouring Gods embodiment might affect how we think theologically about the church as body of Christ, the creation as Gods work, the hope of resurrection... Body theology is strongly influenced by feminist theology which recognises the experience of embodied humans as a source for doing theology.
