I am not so sure

I suspect you're right about the probable reaction from church people. I found that particularly interesting in the light of this statement from the article:
"Today's activists understand that if you have a problem with, say, Nike's use of sweatshop labour, you don't burn down the factory, you go after the heart and soul of the company."
That very thing is exactly why clergy abuse victims end up suing the church - because they discover (the hard way) that the church ignores them until church finances are threatened.


So there are two facets that this brings to my mind - one, that to those who have been victimised, the heart and soul of the church is money not godliness, and two, that the people in the pews still don't see how similar their own organisation/company is to other big businesses, hence they still feel qualified to take the moral high ground.
