Has anyone participated in, or officiated at, or attended, a Buddhist funeral.  I have a very dear friend who is Buddhist and she wants me to officiate at her husband’s funeral.  We are struggling to work out what should happen.  She feels that she has more of a sense that the funeral is about sending off her husband’s spirit but she doesn’t know what she should do … I gather she hasn’t ever been to a Buddhist funeral herself (living out in the sticks!).

Anybody know?

While I have a Christian perspective if I have some idea about the Buddhist way of doing things I may be able to facilitate others go through their rites in a way appropriate to them.
