Ah yes, my copy arrived today.

 

I can’t help thinking, not again! Our congregation went right through the issues. My efforts to get everybody to look at the “other side”, whatever that might be, achieved little than to have accusations of bias directed at me. (Whatever happened to the academic notion of objectivity? Or isn’t that post-modern?) At the end of the day, the Congregation voted by a very large majority to reject the prospect of a person engaged in homosexual behaviour being their Minister and indeed, to call upon the Assembly to rule against the ordination of same across the whole of the Uniting Church in Australia.

 

To the best of my knowledge, no one changed their mind as a result of the discussions. The disruption to mission while the issue became “hot” was very unfortunate.
