I think you hit the nail right on the head. It would be a lot more
logical (and probably less hurtful) to have a robust and in depth
debate about the UCA's position on the authority of and interpretation
of the Bible. But being cynical, I suspect that will not happen because
it's harder than arguing about sex, and almost immediately in a
discussion about the Bible it becomes pretty clear that issues aren't
black and white. Whereas some people are able to pretend issues about
sexuality are black and white.
