Here is the site I was looking for, for NSW /ACT at least. It lists all Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) in that area. Other states should look for the entry "Hourly Data for <STATE> AWS" in their correcponding BoM page. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN65091.shtml
