Hi, Personally I got also a lot of problem with Git and more generally Ruby and Rails under windows. As I need to have my work station under windows (AutoCAD and DreamWeaver are the main reason) I have chosen to run all the ruby stuff (including git) from my debian server and only using the IDE (RoRED) on my Vista workstation. I access the project files over a samba share.
Ok, it's maybe not the best solution as it need 2 machines but it work quiet well.
