Something else to consider regarding Twitter: Rails is a web
application framework, not a general solution to all computing
problems.  As far as I can tell, Twitter's scaling woes have almost
nothing to do with serving dynamic web pages, so it's hard to see how
Rails could be their bottleneck.

Insoshi was able to handle appearing simultaneously on the front pages
of TechCrunch and Hacker News without a hitch, and with only one
server at that.  We're confident that Rails will have no trouble
scaling to meet our future needs.
