Adding chat to Insoshi isn't currently planned, but you're welcome to give it a try. :-)
As far as the IRC channel goes, it's not a top priority, but we'll get around to it eventually if people keep harassing us about it. The main issue right now is that I'm stretched so thin that I won't have time to hang out there very much. But if other people want it, I see no reason not to have it. N.B. "It's as easy as going to irc.freenode.net" isn't easy right now: all I get is the default Apache page "It works!" I'm sure they'll fix that at some point, but by then I'll be busy doing something else....
