At 4a.m. I asked (on insoshi.com) for a good beginners' place to
start. Then I began installing rails on fedora 9. I have a 10%
success rate installing rails. I wound up entering, for reasons other
than my luck unknown: yum -y remove [ruby stuff] -- and this command
erased each and every application on the box. Yet here I am, 5 1/2
hours later, gems and git and everything installed and purring, and I
have one word. Awesome.

It appears that working on this project is the only way I will ever
learn rails.

My interests are mainly aesthetic, user interface realm, but I can
come up with big ideas now and then. It would be great of you to
offer some directions for a relative beginner. Not least where in the
source to begin, but also tips and pointers for how to follow
development so as not to get sidetracked by working on a feature
unlikely to be implemented. And anything else that the prominent
developers feel worth noting.

Thanks!
Jesse
