I'd definitely suggest waiting a couple weeks. Rails 2.1 is already available as part of edge Insoshi, and I'll be pushing out Sphinx to edge later today or tomorrow. Then there are a couple more tickets to close (http://insoshi.lighthouseapp.com/projects/9331/milestones/13180-foundations), which are probably worth waiting for.
