This means YOU CAN'T RUN INSOSHI ON DREAMHOST WITHOUT A VPS. You are wasting your time trying to debug it. The error eric is reporting is something you are guaranteed to run into. There is *no way* to fix it short of hacking insoshi to remove acts_as_ferret entirely. Dreamhost's policy *specifically forbids* any persistent process. ferret_server and sphinxd are both persistent processes. You can start them, but Dreamhost's process monitor will catch and kill your indexer daemon within a few hours, and your site will go down. End of story. Until Insoshi is completely freed from requiring a separate indexer for search, you WILL NOT be able to run it on a Dreamhost shared account. I spoke to dreamhost's tech support crew about this two months ago, and they confirmed it for me. Get a VPS and you're fine. Unfortunately, those cost more than ten times as much as the shared accounts. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Insoshi developer site: http://dogfood.insoshi.com/ Insoshi documentation: http://docs.insoshi.com/ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Insoshi" group.
