Hello,

I'm trying to understand the Raison d'être - the reason for being - of
Insoshi and trying to decide if I'm thinking about Insoshi the right
way.

I've developed some Rails applications to help people exercise more
and lose weight. What I would like to do is connect the people using
my software. For example, let's say I get 6 friends who want to lose
weight to use my Ruby on Rails application. I want a place where we
can get together and share our weight loss progress, ideas, and
propose feature enhancements, etc. Now, I could just create a Google
Group, let's call it "Troy's fat loss club." But I'm getting a welded
shut, one size fits all social networking solution with no
flexibility. On the other hand, if I take the trouble of learning
Insoshi I can begin to incorporate some of the functionality of my own
Rails application into the Insoshi framework. And of course I can add
my own graphics, customize the style sheets, etc.

Is my approach ( using Insoshi as a basis for developing my own unique
web service ) a valid one? Or is Insoshi more narrowly focused on just
doing social networking, getting to know you kind of thing?

Thanks for your attention.
--Troy
