He talks about missing the mark, the mark of the high calling of Christ, and I bear in my body the marks of Christ. Thinking about this and beginning a reflective inventory of the marks in my life for Jesus, I am sorry that my marks are so few and so trivial. Of course there are the stains on the pages of my Bible from years of turning and reading. There are the marks of underlined passages and notes written in the margins. There is the worn cover from years of handling. {I'll just plug this in here that the worn our Bible usually belongs to the person who isn't.} There are the worn places in the carpet from sitting week after week in the same seat since new carpet was installed, but neither of these show any mark of commitment or responsibility. It bothers me that there are not more Christian marks in my life which raises an important question. If our world was suddenly in anarchy and a tyrannical government should begin killing all Christians, would there be enough evidence to convict you? Are there any marks of the Saviour that shows the world you are a Christian? I want my life to show who I am and Who I believe in. I want my life to bear the marks of Christ in walk and talk. I want my life to be such, that when He returns my body and my life will bear His marks, and I will not be ashamed at His appearance.
