"The Fire Fighters Son"
It was late on Tuesday evening,
before his mother could sit down,
to tell their only child - of the
terror which hit downtown!
She looked into his eyes,
God, she loved him so...
She felt her heart breaking.
As her hurt begin to show.
Gathering all of her courage,
for the story she had to tell....
"Dad won't be home tonight,
he was in those buildings that fell."
The boy looked at her smiling,
and he did not even blink....
the mother's tears began to fall.
What must her baby think?
"Dad" was a fire fighter,
a true hero to his son.
He loved his dad most of all,
more than anyone!
She found herself... nervous,
perspiration in her palms
She thought he would be upset!
but.... he was very calm.
The son leaned towards her,
placed his hand on her head.
his check was up against hers,
this is what he said:
"Mommy don't be crying.....
I knew Dad wasn't coming home.
I talked to him a while ago,
but it wasn't on the phone.
He told me that he loved me,
he promised we'd meet again.
He told of his brand new home,
And the job... he must begin."
"God's building a big army...
with many angels needed.
This is where he has gone.
he hasn't been defeated!"
Mother quickly raised her head,
tears streaming on her face.
feeling his Daddy's presents...
her heart was filled with praise!
She knew his words were very true!
He's in God's army now....
She also knew her son was safe,
and kept from harm somehow.
So, come on you evildoers,
An Army's on the way.....
Bolstered by new angels,
that left those towers that day!
This commander won't be beaten.
