Hello all,
I am new to this mailing list and I am new to Linux on the
Inspirons. I have an Inspiron 3000 M233ST. I have been able to get
everything working except Xwindows. I downloaded the latest version of
XBF-Neomagic, but it just crashes. I get this error when I try to run
startx :
execve failed for /etc/X11/X (errno 2)
After that error then it just bombs out. I was viewing the archives of this
mailing list and saw an email which said that I would have to re-compile my
kernel using GCC 2.7.x instead of version 2.8.x which is what is precompiled
on the RedHat 5.1 CDs I received from RedHat software. Could someone please
confirm that this is what I have to do. I really hope there is some other
workaround to this. Any info is really appreciated. Thank You
