Have you tried to switch to a text console before suspending? This works most
of the time for me. I often have a clock skew afterwards, and sometimes it
hangs when shutting down the X server, but I'm not sure if this is due to kwm,
the X server (both Xaccel and XBF), or the bios (A05).
