I ran into the same problem on my system. I installed RedHat Linux 5.0, then
downloaded the neomagic x-server. The installation of the x-server gave me a
message similar to what you got. I went to the following site:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/redhat-5.1/i386/RedHat/RPMS/
and pulled all the new X*.rpm's that I needed:
X11R6-contrib-3.3.2-2.i386.rpm
XFree86-100dpi-fonts-3.3.2-8.i386.rpm
XFree86-3.3.2-8.i386.rpm
XFree86-75dpi-fonts-3.3.2-8.i386.rpm
XFree86-devel-3.3.2-8.i386.rpm
XFree86-libs-3.3.2-8.i386.rpm
Xaw3d-1.3-15.i386.rpm
Xaw3d-devel-1.3-15.i386.rpm
Xconfigurator-3.57-2.i386.rpm
initscripts-3.64-2.i386.rpm
modutils-2.1.85-4.i386.rpm
For each of these packages, I did
rpm -U {package name}
This upgrades the specified packages. Some depend on other in the list.
My system was then ready to receive the neomagic x-server.
