The Xig server for my Inspiron 7000 worked OK for me.  I did have to pull a
patch off the xig ftp site, but then it wasn't too difficult.  I didn't have
to know anything about horizontal freq, vertical freq, dot clock, ramdac,
etc.  I installed it under Slackware 3.5 using the UMSDOS file system (just
a c:\linux directory in my win98 partition with all of the installation
below).   I haven't played with it much, but it seemed to work just fine.  I
didn't notice any problems.
