I was able to get my 3c589 working from the advice on Tomasz Barszczak's wonderful "Linux on Dell Inspiron" page. Check out: http://www.ps.uci.edu/~tomba/inspiron/#pcmcia It worked for me - I'm running RedHat 5.2 on my I7K right now. I used the example for my /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia file, and I have loaded the following rpm's: kernel-2.0.36-0.7 kernel-pcmcia-cs-2.0.36-0.7 dhcpcd-0.70-2 Good Luck! I'm working on the same problem. I've just ordered the $2 CheapBytes 5.2 CD and working on installing it now... Then I'll work on the ethernet card.
