is it possible to install some of the packages on the SXCE dvd without
installing the entire system?

I'd especially like to know if i can upgrade an exsisting opensolaris insteall
to one of the SXCE installs.

i'm still too much of a newb to get SXCE configured properly like opensolaris
is out of the box (i tried installing it and it works fine but the installed
doesn't allow you to create a root account AND a user account like the
opensolaris install, none of the path files are set up by default, and a few
other things that kept giving me issues)

every time i tried to add users i had issues...i was able to add users as root
but i wan't able to make use usermod -P on them to give them Primary
Administrator abilities and what not, i kept getting errors saying that the
shadow password file was out of sync or something, i forgot the program it told
me to run but running it did nothing to solve the issue.

So i've reinstalled opensolaris for now, but theres a couple things in SXCE i'd
like on my system....if i could find a definitive guide on setting up SXCE then
that would be great. I've sent away for the Solaris Bible on amazon but
anything anyone can link me in the meantime would mean a great deal to me.

I used linux for 2 years, switched to FreeBSD and learned more in the first 2
weeks than i did the entire 2 years on linux, now i'm using OpenSolaris and in
2 days i feel like i've learned more than the last 3 years =)

thanks again
