OK - just rebooted for a bit to play around. From the grub CLI, I ran 'find
/boot/grub/menu.lst'. It determined that was on hd0,0,a, so I ran 'root
(hd0,0,a)' and changed the findroot line in my grub config to that as well.
That didn't help a bit...

So I booted the b117 DVD, as I remembered seeing a single-user shell option
there. I get into the single-user shell, and it auto-detected my zpool. It
also detected the boot-archive as out of date and graciously offered to update
it for me. I allowed it to do so, rebooted and now I have (surprise surprise!)
the same error as I had with the b117 installation - boots straight to grub
command line with checksum verification failed happening when I try to access
anything on the aforementioned partition.

I'll probably play around with it a bit more tonight (have to get some real
work done for now...). Any more ideas?
