For s10u5, there are known issues with synclist with password and shadows. There are fixes available in live upgrade and I will recommend you download the latest live upgrade patches from sunsolve and see whether this will resolve the issue. For sparc, you need at least 121430-28 or higher. If it still fails, file a bug against solaris/solaris_install/liveupgrade.
